NCSM is an outstanding professional organization that offers leaders opportunities to develop, enhance, and reflect on their practice as mathematics educators. The annual conference brings leaders together to network and collaborate with colleagues and mathematics education leaders from across the country (and beyond). As conference coordinator for 2010 in San Diego and 2011 in Indianapolis, I look forward to working with my committee of incredibly dedicated members to put together conferences that at the very least meet, and hopefully exceed what our members have come to expect in this great annual event.

My first NCSM Annual Conference was in New Orleans in 1991. I was just beginning to take on a mathematics leadership role in my district, and I was invited by another teacher leader to join her and some of her colleagues in attending. I was impressed by the excellent program and thoroughly enjoyed the networking opportunities that allowed for sharing ideas with others who were engaged in similar work. I've only missed one annual conference since then, and I've never been disappointed. I appreciate having NCSM as a kind of "professional home."
