I believe that networking and collaborating with others who believe in supporting student achievement in mathematics education is powerful. I also believe that supporting math teachers is the key to improved student achievement. My membership in NCSM allows me to Network, Communicate, Support, and Motivate all stakeholders in our mission to provide equity and access for all learners.

I first learned of NCSM in the early 90s when my Director of Mathematics and Science shared how much he valued attending NCSM conferences. It took a while (almost 10 years) before I actually became a member. Although I was a "teacher leader" in the early 90s, I never thought of myself as a math "supervisor" until I became a Math Administrator. Knowing what I know now, I wish I had joined years earlier. The knowledge I gain from attending NCSM Conferences assists me in my work throughout the year. I am pleased that NCSM's vision and logo emphasizes Networking, Communicating, Supporting, and Motivating. With the emphasis on these important components, everyone will know that NCSM is an organization for all interested in supporting students in mathematics education.
