NCSM, as an organization of mathematics leaders, has shown its commitment to providing professional learning opportunities that are necessary to support and sustain improved student achievement in mathematics. NCSM gives mathematics educators a forum from which to share professional knowledge. It makes networking and collaboration possible so that ALL students can have access to a rigorous and meaningful mathematics curriculum. NCSM realizes the vision of what "ought to be" cannot be achieved without the effort of all of us in community with one another. "Mathematics education and leadership is more than what happens at your desk or in this district. If you want to truly know mathematics education and what is happening in the classrooms and districts across the country, you have to belong to a national organization such as NCSM." This was the message I received from a colleague upon taking a position as a mathematics leader. I am thankful for the opportunity not only to be a member of NCSM, but also to be able to serve an organization that has given me so much in skills, networking, and professional development.
