Start up of monthly meetings begin Sept. 14th. This year we will feature school board initiatives, guest speakers and our annual OMCA Retreat in February at Hockley Valley Resort.

51st Northwest Mathematics Conference: "Math in Bloom"
October 18 -20, 2012 Victoria, British Columbia
This conference is a fabulous professional development opportunity for all teachers of Mathematics K through College. It also features a T^3 (Teachers Teaching with Technology) regional conference.
Catherine Fosnot, Professor Emerita of Childhood Education and the Founding Director of Mathematics in the City, City College of New York.
Dan Meyer, a high school math teacher named one of Tech & Learning's 30 Leaders of the Future.

This year's mathematics conference will be held in beautiful and exciting Victoria, BC. Victoria is situated on the sunny southern tip of Vancouver Island and was twice named "Best City in the Americas" since 2000.

The Manitoba Association of Mathematics Teachers (MAMT) will be hosting its provincial conference on Friday, October 19 at Linden Christian/Grant Memorial. We will be going back to our previous format of smaller, mostly hands on sessions. There will be 28 half day sessions in the morning and 26 half day sessions in the afternoon. Each session is designated Early, Middle, Senior, Early/Middle, Middle Senior or Early/Middle/Senior Years. Registration will open on September 1 with sessions on the Manitoba Teachers' Society website and full session descriptions on the MAMT website www.mamt.mb.ca

Manitoba Education Senior High Math workshops
Senior Years Math workshops are planned for the fall that are a continuation from the workshops that were held in the spring. These workshops will address the new curriculum that is being implemented for Grade 12 Applied, Essential, and Pre-Calculus Mathematics. The workshops will be held in Brandon, Cranberry Portage, Thompson, Dauphin and various sites in Winnipeg.
The MCATA conference will be held in Jasper on October 12 and 13. The theme of the conference is "Math is not a Spectator Sport". The keynote speakers are Tom Schimmer and Alec Couros. For more information and to register go to www.mathteachers.ab.ca.
