How to Differentiate Your Mathematics Instruction, Grades K-5
Attend this session to learn more about differentiating mathematics instruction with Jayne Bamford Lynch, coauthor of the newly revised "Math for All: Differentiating Instruction, Grades K-2 and 3-5." You will find this revised resource, titled "How to Differentiate Your Math Instruction, Grades K-5: Lessons, Ideas, and Video for Common Core Support" in your NCSM tote bag. In this highly experiential session, you will engage in differentiated mathematics tasks and work with others to analyze how these tasks address the varied needs of students. You will experience and examine a variety of approaches and models for differentiating. And you will visit mathematics classrooms via video in which teachers are intentional about their curricular choices and think carefully about what students need to learn and how that learning can best be supported.

Defining Effective Learning Experiences for Educators in a Common Core Classroom
Effective learning experiences for educators developing their capacity for effective mathematics instruction within a Common Core classroom begins with learning environments that build their pedagogical base. Such capacity building requires a focus on three elements: content knowledge, understanding how students learn, and instructional practices that support student learning. This session highlights the kinds of experiences needed in a professional learning community to transform instruction.

Prepare for the Common Core State Standards and Mathematics Fact Fluency with ExploreLearning Reflex
The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) stress the importance of math fact fluency, and both the SBAC and PARCC have outlined plans to assess fluency directly. Reflex is the most effective - and the most fun - mathematics fact fluency program, and prepares students for the CCSS assessments and the challenges of higher level mathematics. After a short presentation, educators will have a chance to try out the Reflex system, including the fluency development games, and win prizes for high scores!
