NCSM's newest publication It's TIME lays out "a framework with a set of interrelated imperatives that represent a call to action for systemic change in curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional culture. . ." (p.1)

Answer this call to action as we discuss overarching themes, supportive conditions, and imperatives for systemic change with Steven Leinwand, Cathy Fosnot, Valerie Mills, and more!

As leaders in mathematics education we have a responsibility to have a vision for the kind of mathematics education that we wish to enact in our schools today. Let us help you further develop that vision through the lens of It's TIME as you examine your current reality and create an action plan for supporting systemic change that will encourage and enhance learning for all students, in every classroom, on every instructional day.

If you only have one day to spare for your professional growth, spend a day with NCSM.

Seminar presenters actively engage participants and guide them through adaptable research-informed practices, strategies, models, and concepts that effective mathematics education leaders need to know and integrate into their work. Leave the seminar with practical and inspired ideas and actions that will prepare you to lead and support others throughout the year.

Why You Should Attend

This year's agenda is packed with great sessions, including two major speaker sessions!

Steven Leinwand will be with us in Richmond and Houston to talk about Imperatives for Systemic Change related to It's TIME, NCSM's newest publication.

Dreambox Learning has graciously agreed to sponsor Cathy Fosnot as the lunch speaker at all locations, discussing Imperatives for Knowledge.

Each day will be broken up into morning and afternoon sessions. There will be a keynote, followed by breakout sessions in both the morning and the afternoon. The morning keynote will focus on Imperatives for Systemic Change and using It's TIME as a framework for planning and affecting changes in your educational environment. The morning breakouts (one elementary and one secondary) will focus on Imperatives for Instruction.

The afternoon keynote will be focused on Imperatives for Knowledge in teaching. The afternoon breakouts will delve into Imperatives for Assessment using NCSM's JumpStart Formative Assessment Modules as well as a session on Preparing for the Next Generation of Assessment with featured speakers from the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) and/or the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC). Even if your state is not a member of a consortium, the time will be well spent as we discuss the affordances, formats, and opportunities present within these new assessments and how they will benefit students and teachers. Throughout the seminars, NCSM's tools such as Great Video Tasks and the JumpStart Formative Assessment modules will be used to enhance participants' experiences.

If you only have one day to spare for your professional growth, spend the day with NCSM.

Each of these one-day seminars is conveniently scheduled prior to an NCTM Regional Meeting near you.

Registration includes a full day with research-informed practical strategies, seminar materials, continental breakfast, and lunch!
