History of the Iris Carl Grant
NCSM chose to pay tribute to Iris Carl's tremendous contributions to mathematics education through the NCSM Iris Carl Grant. It was originally established through the Mathematics Education Trust (MET) of NCTM. Thanks to individual donations and sums collected at NCSM events hosted by Western Regions 1 and 2, Central Region 1, and Eastern Regions 1 and 2, we were able to send a full $5,000.00 to MET to start the NCSM Iris Carl Grant. This grant is now administered through NCSM and is given to eligible NCSM members to attend the NCSM Annual Conference. NCSM presented the first Iris Carl Grants in April 2006 to three leaders in mathematics education to attend the NCSM Annual Conference in St. Louis.
