Inspiration! Associate Editor

Personal Message
The pursuit of mathematics is a lot like striving in music or sport. The best coaches are daring in how they challenge us, removing every cap on our presumed capabilities. We end up surprising even ourselves with how far we can go. As mathematics educators and leaders, we must be those great coaches, balancing inspiration and encouragement with disciplined work in order to help all students grow.

I am the grateful beneficiary of mentors like that, many through NCSM. I currently serve as a K-12 district math coordinator and NCSM state affiliate leader in Colorado, as well as the associate editor of the Inspiration! blog. The most energizing part of my work is being around other math education leaders who dream big, work hard, and invest in others. Check out the blog and hear from some of them!

Member Story
In my first year as a K–12 math leader, I was encouraged to attend an NCSM conference. I quickly learned that the challenges I believed were unique to me were actually shared by many—and that others across the country were finding smart, effective ways to meet them. As my leadership has evolved, NCSM has continually met me with exactly what I need at each stage. That, to me, is the mark of a great professional organization: helping members at all levels elevate their work and the work of those they lead.
