I have spent the past 20+ years developing as a mathematics teacher and leader. I have always been passionate about learning and growing so that I could support students and teachers in learning and loving mathematics.
Throughout my career as a teacher and administrator, I have valued the resources provided by NCSM to deepen my understanding of mathematics education and build my capacity for instructional leadership.
I am so excited to now be able to serve the members of NCSM as Second Vice President.
I was fortunate to have some experienced mathematics teachers take me under their wing as I began my second career as a mathematics teacher. They were NCTM members and urged me to become a member, too. I did and was thankful at how being a member of a national organization provided me with resources and a network of educators that I could learn from.
When I became a mathematics supervisor, I learned about NCSM and became a member. This opened a whole new world to me of resources that were there to support me as I developed as a mathematics leader. The website, the publications, and workshops have taught me so much and provided me with so many resources to support the teachers and administrators in my district.
I always look forward to the annual conference. Not only do I have the opportunity to learn new ideas from experts in the field, but I also have the ability to network with many mathematics leaders from around the world! It is wonderful to come together with other leaders and share ideas, learn, and grow together!
