Summer 2018
Finally Summer. I am looking forward to some summer reading. I picked up a couple of new books at the annual conference and can’t wait to get started with the two in particular, Everything you Need for Mathematics Coaching by McGatha, Bay-Williams, Kobett and Wray and the Coaching and Collaboration book from the new Mathematics at Work series by Kanold, Toncheff, Larson, Barnes, Kanold-McIntyre, and Schuhl. Both these resources look to recap most of the latest work that has been happening around the teaching practices and provide coaches with tools to make their work more effective. I am also excited to share some of these tools with the administrators I work with along with the classroom teacher leaders I support. I would encourage you to pick up a new resource and reach out to a couple of colleagues to share in the learning.
Are you a coach? Do you support or lead coaches? Are you interested in starting a coaching program at your school or hiring a coach? Then the Summer Leadership Academy is a great opportunity for you to deepen your leaning around mathematics coaching. And great news is the institute is coming to a location very close to our region.
